The Crown Inn at Littleport to hold free summer party

Littleport loves a bit of fun – and to cheer everyone up after a couple of grey weekends, the historic and convivial gathering place for centuries, The Crown Inn, at 34 Main Street, has decided to hold a free to attend Summer Party!

This Saturday (August 9) merry making starts at 6pm with music provided by local father and son combo David and Joe Murfitt aka Soul Fusion.

There will be fun and games – try your hand at 'beer or prosecco pong' – you aim to bounce a ping pong ball into a cup containing afore-mentioned substances – and if you get one in you get to drink it for free! Food trucks and more!

A cheerful and altruistic get-together takes place at the Crown every Thursday, from 10-11.30am.  Littleport Timebank meets there – entry through the car park on Crown Lane - and welcomes new people to the group that exists to exchange skills and chores without money changing hands.

It’s literally a virtual bank of time, where you get credits of one hour of your time for one hour of someone else’s.

Littleport’s other, all accessible, hostelries, like the Plough and Harrow, and the Swan, restaurants like the vegetarian La Strega and cafes like Craggy’s in Granby Street, and Clare’s Kitchen in Camel Road, both with veggie/vegan options, are well worth patronising.

Clare’s is providing the lovely lunch-break grub for the youngsters taking part in the Football Fun Factory all-day sessions at the Littleport Leisure Centre!

The Littleport Town Council’s youth worker, Joanne Coe, hosts free school holiday sessions for youngsters until August 22 at the Youth and Community Centre in Cornfield Lane.

These take place on Tuesdays - 11-2pm, Wednesdays - 9am-midday, Friday - 11-2pm. Games, crafts and a tuck shop.

And there’s more family fun to be had with a kids disco on August 14 at the Littleport Ex-Servicemen’s Club, Ponts Hill CB61PZ, from 2-4pm. No flashing lights, £2 kids, their grown-up companions (compulsory) free.

All welcome, the bar is open as usual, and soft drinks and snacks are available.
