A seal spotting swimming in the River Great Ouse made its way into Ely on Sunday (July 6).
There have been sightings of the marine mammal for the last two weeks, it is understood.
Seals have been spotted across Cambridgeshire for a number of years, although it is rare for them to be seen in Ely, which is around 30 miles inland.
Chris Wood said she spotted the seal opposite the Cutter Inn while working with a neighbour early on Saturday morning.
"I saw what I thought was initially a dead Swan, but it was moving strangely," she said.
"When I got close to it, I realised that what I'd seen was a very large fish in the mouth of a seal.
"I went to get my phone to film it but in my excitement I didn't get any shots."
Chris added the seal was in the water for around 40 minutes altogether before swimming further downstream.
