One of Cambridgeshire's fly-tipping 'grotspots' has been given a makeover.
The reopening of the area has been made possible by a collaborative clean-up between the district council and Cambridgeshire's Community Payback Scheme.
The project targeted the area's popular fly-tipping spots along the byway between Iram Drove and Meadow Lane.
The spots were previously littered with "dumped tyres, garden waste, and cabling."
The area is "plagued by illegally dumped household and commercial waste" and has been a long-standing nuisance for the community.
Efforts in the clean-up saw more than a ton of illegally "dumped waste" removed in just a single day—enough to fill two waste collection vehicles.
Several measures have been made across the years by the council to "combat the issue," such as the installation of physical barriers to prevent unauthorised access.
A range of other initiatives have also been introduced, including "increased patrols, signage, CCTV surveillance, and multiple clean-up operations."
Councillor Natalie Warren-Green, lead cabinet member for environmental services and licensing for South Cambridgeshire District Council, said: "As part of the nationwide Keep Britain Tidy Spring Clean 2025 campaign, this site was selected for a deep clean.
"Their dedication, alongside the efforts of our environmental crime and street cleansing teams, ensured the site was fully restored in just under five hours."
Councillor Bill Handley, a district councillor for Willingham, expressed his gratitude, stating: "This clean-up initiative was very welcome, and the team did a superb job in the time available.
"Further, similar, work is much needed, and we look forward to them returning soon."
