Yvonne Long reports on the news from groups and clubs in the Soham area.
Soham Community Group
Members of The Monday Club got together at The Causeway Centre on the morning of April 14. When everyone had arrived and was seated the volunteers served refreshments. The entertainment for this week was a selection of reptiles, snakes, tortoise, spiders and lizards.
Following lunch, Carol Sennett gave out the announcements. Carol was celebrating a big birthday and was presented with flowers. Susan Taylor and Shirley Skipper also celebrated birthdays.
Carol organised the raffle of several hampers and various other prizes and she was assisted by Lynda Knight. Refreshments were served before games of bingo were played. Claire White was the caller, assisted by Jean Gammon checking the books and giving out the prizes, which were all donated by Andrew Fleet.
Before going home, everyone received an Easter egg.
Community Care Coffee Morning
On the morning of April 15, David Jaye welcomed everyone attending the coffee morning in the Pavilion. There was lots of chat, laughter and catching up with the latest news while meeting up with friends.
During the morning David organised the raffle.
Soham Community Association
Members of the SCA got together in the Scout and Guide building on the morning of April 15. There was time for visitors to meet up with friends, enjoy refreshments and lively chat in the company of James Wood. New members always welcome, from 11am to 1pm every Tuesday.
Ross Peers Sports Centre Bingo.
It was eyes-down at 7.30pm once again for the bingo players who meet at the Sports centre every Tuesday evening. On the evening of April 15, the session was well attended. During the break for refreshments, the raffle was organised. New members are always welcome.
Knit and Knatter
On Thursday afternoons members of the club get together in the club room at the Soham Bowls Club. There is lots of chat while keeping busy knitting babies hats and cardigans, squares to make into blankets and much more. During the afternoon refreshments are enjoyed.
Over 60s Club
Due to the Easter holidays there was no meeting of the club in the Pavilion. Meetings will start again on Friday, April 25. The speaker will be Anita Brown with her selection of Bygones. Meetings start at 2pm, new members always welcome.
