A world-famous author and television star sent a video message to an East Cambridgeshire theatre group to wish them the best for their production of his novel.
Last weekend, Soham-based Viva Youth performed Lou Stein’s adaptation of David Walliams' best-selling The Midnight Gang to four sell-out houses.
After their dress rehearsal, the youngsters were very excited to be shown a video message from the author himself.
It said: “Hello to everyone at Viva Youth in Cambridgeshire! I’m David Walliams and I’m very excited that you guys are doing a production of my book, The Midnight Gang."
He added: "It’s one of my absolute favourites and it must be one of yours too, so I’m really really excited about this.
"I’m so happy you’ve chosen one of my books and I’m going to wish you all the best for the production.
"I’m sure it’s going to be a huge, huge success – lots of laughs and some sad bits too, so I can’t wait to hear all about it and I’m sending all my love to each and every one of you!”

The excited cast members were also thrilled to raise over £100 for East Anglian Children’s Hospice during the run.
