Littleport has an amazing medical centre with an even more amazing staff headed by Dr Mick Bolina.
It was purpose-built 20 years ago to replace the old doctors’ surgery in Granby Street, that used to be a bit crammed, as us older ‘uns remember.
The St George’s MC in Parson’s Lane serves the community very well.
Last week, although officially closed for the funeral of much-loved dispensary manager Tracey Bridgement, there was still a receptionist and doctor on site attending to any emergencies.
Although illness strikes where it will and accidents happen, nevertheless Littleport’s residents and those in the surrounding areas can pursue a healthy lifestyle by visiting another new purpose-built amenity, Littleport Leisure Centre.

There’s even a seated Yoga session Tuesday 18th 9.30-10.15am and a women only gym workout Wednesday 19th 6.45-7.45pm.
And if you’re sitting in the centre’s field-side café perhaps using the free Wi-Fi (as I do to put stuff on my Littleport Life Magazine Facebook page) on a Saturday morning, through the glass exit doors you’d see the assembling parkrunners as they start their run at 9am.
And, going past the entry door, all the keen roller skaters going to the fun skate in the hall that begins at 9.15.
Lots of others attending the gyms and various activities in the other rooms keep the management team busy at the main reception too.
Not least the increasingly popular with out-of-towners too DJ Dynamic Derek Timbers’ monthly Thursday Afternoon Music Club at the Littleport Ex-Servicemen’s Club on Ponts Hill CB6 1PZ.
