Littleport’s favourite venues, its pubs, clubs, restaurants and take-aways have been well-frequented over this year’s Christmas time, says columnist Lyn Gibb-de Swarte.
The children have also enjoyed functions put on specially for them.
Ely Roller Skating Club, based at Littleport Leisure, held a Christmas Fun Skate organised by top skater Chloe Figgins, and raised £300 for club funds.
The Plough and Harrow, 61 Ely Road, held a kids party last Saturday afternoon, and proprietor Steve Shipp delighted them as Father Christmas overseeing the fun and games.
On Sunday, the Littleport Ex-Servicemen’s Club, Ponts Hill, hosted a children’s party with music provided by inimitable Carl Betson’s InterCity Disco.
While the youngsters were merry making at the Plough and Harrow, at the side of the pub there was a cake sale raising funds for several local kids charities and Littleport independent foodbank.
On Monday afternoon, they held a ‘Festive Cheer’ free school holiday event with lunch and crafting organised by Ellie Rogers.

Looking forward to this weekend as we trundle towards the new year, the Plough has Songbird and the Crow on Saturday December 28 at 8pm.
And their New Year’s Eve party, all welcome, is of course on Tuesday night.
Also Tuesday (December 31) the Ex-Servicemen’s Club presents Simon Rose singing all your favourites from 9pm. Booking from the Club only, £10 members, £12 guests.
This Thursday night (December 26) at the Crown, Main Street, Ska and Punk with Nathan McCarthy aka McSkarthy, who says “so let's dance off all of that Christmas dinner and pudding and come and have a party with me at The Crown in Littleport on Boxing Day. One Love.”
On Saturday December 28, Karaoke, and then Tuesday, New Year’s Eve from 8pm, the wonderful Mandy Reilly.
The Swan at Sandhill on the riverside, open from noon December 31 until 2am on January 1 2025, has a New Year’s Eve party with a DJ - £8 includes a house drink.
This Saturday (December 28) why not join Littleport parkrun for a 5k run, jog or walk? Assemble 8.45 for a 9am start at the Littleport Leisure forecourt.
