People in Ely can enjoy taking items along to Ely Library’s Repair Café which is set to return on May 25 between 11am and 2pm.
An international concept, Repair Cafes house tools and materials to help you make any repairs you need for clothes, furniture, electrical appliances, bicycles, crockery, and appliances, among other things.
You’ll also find expert volunteers, with repair skills in all kinds of fields.
The idea is to reduce landfill, and empower people to make simple fixes themselves, or at least to recognise when something can be repaired.
There are more than 30 different organisers – community groups, technology companies, PTAs, parish councils and others – who run Repair Cafes within the Cambridgeshire Repair Café Network, that are run by the Cambridge Carbon Footprint.
The Repair Café was huge success back in January, with volunteers repairing a total of 26 items and preventing 69kg of waste and 230kg of CO2 emissions.
The Ely Repair Café is looking for general volunteers and repairers to help on the day and at future cafes.
You can book in your items now via the Ely Repair Cafe website.
