Catriona Cole, of Ely Netball Club, looks back on a successful winter season of competition as the Cambridge and District Netball League draws to a close.

Ely Netball Club has much to be proud of among its three league teams as we reflect on the challenges and triumphs of the last few months.

Ely 2 lead the celebrations having topped the league table in Division 4, securing their promotion into Division 3 for next season.

Scoring a whopping 840 goals across 18 matches saw them also claim the title of top goal scorers in their division.

Also in Division 4, Ely 1 finished a commendable 6th out of 10 having brought in many new players to the squad.

In Division 5, also with several new players, Ely 3 finished eighth.

With a significant number of players welcoming new babies into the world and a few injuries across the club, it’s been a challenging season for all three teams but we continue to build connections in our squads, improve our playing and most of all have fun.

Meanwhile, our Walking Netball team made their mark in their first-ever East Regional Walking Netball festival, coming fourth in the ‘in it to win it’ tournament with lots of brilliant play to celebrate.

A mixed development team has also enjoyed more court time and opportunity to play in different combinations at the new mid-week Fenland Netball League.

Coming up, the summer season sees the club take advantage of the warmer weather and participate in a more relaxed league with opportunity to continue to build our skills and develop partnerships across court.

Ely Netball Club is an inclusive and friendly club that is always welcoming to new players, regardless of experience.
