A touch of “M&S sparkle” will be on offer at the Mayor of Ely’s charity gala, which will be held in aid of the Ely and District Fundraising Branch of the NSPCC. 

Cllr Chris Phillips will host the gala which will take place at The Maltings, at Ely Riverside, on April 12.  

Doors open at 6:30pm ready for the event to begin at 7pm. 

While guests will be out to enjoy themselves for the evening, everyone will also be there for a worthwhile cause that helps vulnerable children. 

There will be live music from local acts, light hors d’oeuvres and finger food served throughout the evening, a licensed bar and raffle.

"We’re describing the event as having ‘M&S Sparkle’ and most know what we mean when we offer that description!” 

The NSPCC marks its 140th anniversary this year and the Ely and District Branch has been active for 40 years and hosts a wide variety of fundraising events.

She said: “Community is at the heart of what we do and without the support of groups like this we wouldn’t be able to be there for so many children.  

“Around 90 per cent of NSPCC incomes comes through donations from fundraising, which helps us to fund local campaigns in the area.  

“This includes our Kids Safety Net campaign, which is focusing on children’s online safety across Cambridgeshire for the next year.”
