A charity that runs dementia choirs in Ely is launching two new groups - one in Soham and the other in Cambridge - thanks to a recent funding boost.

Since the beginning of 2018, All In Sound has run an inclusive, fun, and friendly group each week called 'Sing! Together' for those living with dementia, memory challenges and their carers.

Thanks to funding from the Healthier Futures Fund, via Cambridgeshire Community Foundation, the group in Soham will be able to start in early March.

It will also enable a new partnership and collaboration with Saint John’s College School in Cambridge, which will see the singing group being alongside young people from the school.

Kathryn Hayes, founder and director of All In Sound, said: “This is an exciting time for All In Sound, and we are all delighted to be able to offer our Sing! Together groups to more people in our local communities.

“I really would encourage anyone who is interested to contact me there really is no need to have any previous singing experience, everyone is welcome!

“We look forward to starting our new groups in Soham and Cambridge, and continuing to sing in Ely too!”

She added that the benefits of singing and music for those living with dementia has been greatly highlighted over recent years.

Members of this group, including the carers, describe how it makes them feel.

One said: “We find the singing lifts our spirits and have made many friends in a similar situation through Sing! Together."

Another added: "It is good to meet up with them each week to sing, chat, laugh and generally have fun.”
