The Ely Baby Bank is based in Fordham and supports families with babies and young children across the county two mornings a week.

The Fordham project group got in touch with Ely Rotary Club, leading to the £500 donation to the cause.

The Ely Baby Bank project was started by Cilla Palmer in her family home in January 2020, and has since grown into a 35-strong volunteer group who work 200 hours a month.

It is a "safe and friendly place" for families with babies and young children to access everything they need when raising them, and it's all free of charge.

At the Fordham site, children can spend time in the play area while parents and carers browse the Baby Bank sheds filled with baby clothes, pushchairs, cots and much more.

The Baby Bank also stocks formula milk and nappies, which come from community donations, supermarket partnerships and fundraising.

There are currently 35 volunteers at the Ely Baby Bank who sort out donations, restock sheds, deliver bundles and collect donations, and help run the café.

Gemma Petley, a volunteer at the Ely Baby Bank, said: "We are always in need of funds to enable us to keep our Baby Bank running.

"This includes covering costs for purchasing nappies, formula milk and supplies for the café.

"We are incredibly keen to secure funding for further development, such as new sheds to expand our storage capacity for more goods and to keep what we have protected from the winter weather."
