Ely’s very own Secret Yarnbomber has donated a crochet Bagpuss to help raise money for Babylon ARTS.

Babylon held an auction encouraging people to bid for this one-of-a-kind piece, successfully raising £120 for the charity.

Ely’s Secret Yarnbomber brightens up the town with crochet Yarnbombs, regularly found on top of post boxes.

They recently reached out to Babylon, offering to donate an original piece of work, with the intention of it being used to raise money for the gallery.

This included a crochet Bagpuss, complete with mice friends and pillow.

As a charity, Babylon ARTS is reliant on sales, project funding and donations to ensure they can continue to deliver a vibrant programme of events and activities throughout the year.

Ely Standard: Ely’s very own Secret Yarnbomber donated a crochet Bagpuss to help raise money for Babylon ARTS.

The generous donation of this piece from the Secret Yarnbomber has helped raise £120 for the charity though the auction, which took place online from December 1-10.

“I’m so glad that he made some money for your charity,” said Secret Yarnbomber.

“With that amount, he will be going to a good home that loves him.”

For the duration of the auction, Babylon Gallery has had Bagpuss on show alongside ‘Small, but perfect’, the winter open exhibition.

This exhibition features 300 artworks from local artists, all of which are for sale, with prices ranging from £60-£150, perfectly sized for festive gifts.

‘Small, but perfect’ is on at Babylon Gallery until December 23.

Babylon Gallery is open Tuesday to Friday, 12pm to 4pm, and Saturday and Sunday, 10am to 5pm for the course of the exhibition.

Entry is free.
