A community resource centre in East Cambridgeshire was left “completely trashed” after a break-in earlier this week.

The burglary at Witchford Recycling Centre took place between 5pm on October 26 and 8am on October 27.

The centre had to close for several days and a community larder was cancelled because of the incident.

Ruth Marley, who runs the centre, said: “It will take some time to fix the damage structurally, so unfortunately Re-imagine is closed until further notice.

“Apologies to all who this effects.”

She however thanked Alex, Luke and all the guys at the recycling centre “who did their best to tidy up so I wouldn't be so upset.

“Re-imagine is very much a part of me.

“I literally placed every single thing in there and this is painful.

“But I will do my best to get back up and running real soon.”

A police spokesperson said: “We’re investigating a burglary at Witchford Recycling Centre which took place between 5pm on October 26 and 8am on October 27.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact police quoting reference 35/80384/23.”
