A truck with false number plates was found to be stolen thanks to a tip off from a vigilant East Cambridgeshire resident.
Police received a call from a vigilant member of the public, reporting suspicious activity involving a Hiab and a Volvo on Station Road in Dullingham.
"They were right to be concerned as the Hiab was stolen and displaying false number plates," said police.
"Despite best efforts, those in the Volvo got away this time.
"Please continue to report anything suspicious you see."
