A new production will arrive at The Maltings next month by Campaign Amateur Theatre.

Bugsy Malone will take control of the stage from November 16-19.

With direction and choreography by Samantha Dodd and musical direction by Gaz Brown, this family-friendly musical written by Paul Williams and Alan Parker will be sure to have you singing along.

Based on the 1976 movie, that marked the start of the careers of many of the original cast such as Jodie Foster and Scott Baio, this stage show has all the favourite numbers in: ‘Fat Sam’s Grand Slam’, ‘My Name is Tallulah’, ‘So You Wanna Be a Boxer,’ and will be sure to have you tapping and singing all the way home.

“We wanted our show to be as inclusive as possible” said director, Samantha Dodd.

“We are lucky enough to have a cast of 50 of the most wonderfully talented children from Ely and the surrounding villages, as well as some from further afield in Cambridge.

“We have children who are registered deaf in our cast and crew, as well as neurodiverse children and we are supporting all of these children’s needs by having professionally trained team members on hand.”

Joanna Wood, whose daughter Misty is performing in the show said: “Being part of Bugsy has given Misty so much confidence for life as well as just in acting.

“As a deaf teenager, this inclusive performance has undoubtedly provided Misty the opportunity to embrace and be proud of her deaf community, whilst combining it with her passion for acting. The cast and entire team have worked so hard to make this a success.”

Performances take place from Thursday 16 until Saturday November 19 at 7.30pm. Sat & Sun, Matinees at 2.30pm

There will be a BSL interpreted performance at the Sunday matinee.
