A commemorative tree was planted at Vista Academy in Littleport last week in memory of student Tristan Corbett who sadly died last year.

The ceremony took place during the morning of October 10 where a maple tree from Barcham trees was planted.

Vista Academy felt it was important to ensure that they marked the life of Tristan in some way.

Head of School, Nick Harrison, was able to spend time with Tristan’s family including his brother who still attends the school and share in this moment of remembrance of his life.

The school recognises that several of the school and wider community knew Tristan personally and share their memories of joy that they shared with him over the years.

A spokesperson for Vista Academy said: “We hope that as this tree takes root and develops over the years that this will serve as a reminder of Tristan for the community and that it will provide solace and joy to those who knew him best.

“We want to thank Barcham trees for the donation of the tree and we look forward to seeing its fullness in the coming months and years.”

Tristan’s family said: "We would like to thank Vista Academy for the honouring of placing a memorial tree in respect and in memory of our beautiful son who tragically passed last November.

“We hope that placing this lovely maple tree brings comfort and peace in thinking of all those memories that people and his friends once shared with him and will always have him in their thoughts.”
