Approximately 240 straw bales were set alight in Soham in the early hours of yesterday morning (Tuesday, September 12).
Fire crews from Soham, Chatteris and Ely were called at 1:51am to the stack fire on East Fen Drove.
A spokesperson for Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “Firefighters arrived to find approximately 240 straw bales alight.
“Using a hose reel jet, drags and a positive pressure ventilation fan crews extinguished the fire.”
Crews returned to their station by 3.20pm.
The spokesperson added: “The cause of the fire is believed to be deliberate.
