Forty firefighters are at the scene of a building on fire in Fordham this morning (Monday).

Details still remain unclear, but emergency services were called to the incident in Church Street at around 6am this morning.  

A Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson explained the fire is now under control, but the road is likely remain closed for some time.

“An investigation into the cause of the fire will take place in due course,” the spokesperson said.  

Crews from across Cambridgeshire and Suffolk attended the fire and residents are being advised to avoid the area. 

The spokesperson added: “Please avoid the area, and keep windows and doors closed if you can smell smoke.” 

Crews came from Cambridge, Cottenham, Burwell, Sawston, along with the four appliances from Suffolk.
