Littleport is steeped in fascinating history and, since records began, has notably had more than a fair share of talent: entrepreneurs, skilled artisans, academics, professionals in every field, both figuratively and literally as most of its square mileage is farmland, writers and creative artists.

Now, thanks to one such present-day Littleport resident, the Adams Heritage Centre at 17 Main Street, once upon a time JH Adams the hardware store and ironmongers that had a forge out the back, has had a special and very appropriate kind of facelift.

Thanks to renowned Littleport metal sculptor, Tim Peacock, its front mild steel gate and railings have been restored to their original 1893 glory.

Tim’s contribution to this uniquely preserved Victorian shop is priceless – and on Sunday August 6, from 2-4pm, you can step back in time as you enter through its gate.

Once inside, you can view the collection of art within that has been produced by local creatives – and have a sociable cup of tea or coffee.

Steeped in history but bang up to date, Saturday night (July 29) The Crown Inn has an Ibiza night foam party (and cocktails) with DJ Rosie from 8.30-11pm.

Also on Saturday night, the Littleport Ex-Servicemen’s Club presents Bookem and Riskit singing songs from the 60’s and 70’s. Members £4, guests £6.

The night before, Friday July 28, you can have a go at singing yourself or watch your friends, as it’s karaoke night with KJKaraoke from 8pm to midnight and only £2 entry for all.

Littleport loves its children, and on Sunday July 30, the club hosts a free family fun day from 3pm til late.

There will be a free bouncy castle, Intercity Disco, ice cream vendor, Kandy Kart, knitted toys, gifts, prize raffle, face painting, hot food and a visit from Paw Patrol.

For the school holidays at Littleport Leisure from Friday July 28, accompanied children can enjoy free table tennis sessions every Friday from 10am to 12noon with Ely Table Tennis Club.
