The owners of an Ely hairdressing salon have praised their team for getting to the finals of a competition that’s well-respected across the industry.

Toppers, in Fore Hill, made it to the grand final of the L’Oréal Colour Trophy 2023 and were competing alongside the country’s best hair stylists and colourists.

With input from the salon’s wider team, their model’s look was created at the final by two of their experienced stylists.

Lynn Murawski was the hair stylist and Mandy Godfrey looked after the model's hair colour.

Even though they didn't walk away with the coveted award, everyone appreciated the opportunity and professional experience the competition offered.

Toppers was founded by Lisa Cooper and her business partner Mitchell Gordon in 1991.

Lisa said: “We feel so proud of our look and it was a huge team effort.

“We were so surprised to get through to such a high level competition only being a small independent salon competing against all the giants in the business.

“But everyone fully the enjoyed the lavish experience of being involved in such a nationally accredited competition that's now in its 67th year.”

The L’Oréal Colour Trophy aims to showcase the UK’s talent in hair artistry and creativity.

Thousands of professional hair stylists and salons from across the country enter every year and the UK Grand Final was held in London on Monday (July 10).

The wider team at Toppers also went along to the event to fly the flag for the salon, which is thought to one of very few to have made the final from Cambridgeshire.
