Littleport’s been visited by many newspaper headliners over the years, like football legend Kevin Keegan and pop singer turned TV show host Cilla Black.

And on Saturday June 24, from 8pm, it’s the turn of famous Elvis tribute act David Black, recently front page of the Star and this week in Chat magazine, who will entertain us at The Crown Inn.

Before that, on the same day, Littleport parkrun's fifth anniversary takes place at Littleport Leisure Centre. Later, The Crown will be holding its charity fun six-a-side footie tournament kicking off at mid-day on the centre’s football pitches, in aid of Little Miracles and Littleport Rangers FC.

There may well be future football stars among the youngsters who train with the Rangers.

The new under nines, who will play in the Cambs Mini League, U10’s,11’s,15’s and 16’s, are all based at Littleport Leisure Centre. And there’s the R21’s adult Sunday team.

As well as offering a modern gymnasium and a packed programme of specific and general fitness activities, from HIIT to Walking Football, (call 01353373800 or see Facebook for more info) Littleport Leisure is an excellent venue for hire.

On Sunday June 25, returning to Littleport Leisure after last year’s successful event, the huge West Anglia Scale Model Show has an exhibition with clubs, traders, competitions like Airfix make and paint, and a tombola, from 10am-4pm. Adults £3, children £1, under fives free.

Also on Sunday, the Adams Heritage Centre Trustees have a free open afternoon at the centre in Main Street from 2-4pm exhibiting interesting objects from the old hardware shop it once was.

And, as trustee Jennifer Stevens says, “all are welcome to join us for a cup of tea and see if some of the more mysterious objects in the collection on display can be identified".

Looking ahead to more music, Saturday July 1 sees the return of singer Simon Rose to the Littleport Ex-Servicemen’s Club.
