Last June, over 600 people walked around Ely and visited gardens. By doing so, they helped to raise over £5,000 for the National Gardens Scheme, which was passed on to the charities.

This year’s NGS open gardens return to the city on Sunday June 4, and guests are invited to visit seven in the city.

Gardens this year range from large ones, such as the Bishops of Huntingdon and Ely, to a small courtyard garden, tucked away behind a coach house.

There will be plenty to see, hopefully to give you inspiration for your own garden, as well as being able to have the chance to walk through gates that might normally be closed.

On your visit, you'll get the opportunity to meet a tortoise, a steam train rumbling round, bumblebees nesting oblivious of humans, as well as helping to do a jigsaw.

Ely Methodist Church will be serving hot and cold drinks and cake from 12.20pm to 6pm, with light refreshments available at two gardens as well.

We love sharing our gardens, and talking to you about gardening, plants, and sharing our knowledge with you, as well as raising money for the NGS, so do come and join us.

Entrance to all of the gardens is £10 per adult, individual gardens is £3, and free for under 16s.

We're always on the lookout for other people to join our group, too.

If you may be interested in joining us, please talk to the gardeners, or get in touch with us via our website.

Although we hope to have contactless facilities to pay for entrance to the gardens, anything on sale in the gardens will be cash only, including all refreshments.

Preview the gardens via elyopengardens.weebly.com where you will also find local contact details, and a direct link to the NGS site to pre-book tickets.
