A drawing of King Charles III’s crown helped a primary school pupil win an annual pass for her family to visit National Trust locations.

Barley Rose, a Year 3 pupil at Millfield Primary School, in Littleport, took part in a drawing competition to mark the coronation.

It was organised by Bovis Homes, which is building properties close to the school at Quantum Fields.

Barley’s annual pass will now allow her and her family to visit more than 500 historic National Trust locations for free.

Headteacher Wendy Lee explained that promoting “fundamental British values” is part of the pupils’ development.

She said: “Learning about the coronation and our new king is an important aspect of British values and the history of our country.

“Our pupils are encouraged to regard people of all faiths, races and cultures with respect and tolerance.

“Participating in this competition has encouraged us to think about how important this occasion is and how we are playing a special part in history.”
