Two dads from East Cambridgeshire are getting ready to roll with their daughters in a competition to raise money for Cambridgeshire Artistic Roller Skating Club (CARSC).

Novice skater dads Carlos Perez Mocho from Soham, and James Nuttall from Littleport, only started roller skating recently, but are determined to raise as much as they can for their daughters' club.

Carlos and James will then showcase their new skills in a short dance routine with their two daughters at a Spectrum Gala artistic competition in Durham in July.

Chair of CARSC, and Jame's wife, Charlotte Nuttall, said: "It's going to be absolutely brilliant, and it's such a lovely thing for them to do.

"It's really showing commitment to their children and the sport their daughters have chosen to take up as well.

"They're both improving rapidly, and it's a great opportunity to be involved with the girls."

Carlos has been training with his daughters, Gemma and Erika, and James with his daughters, Luella and Adelia, two to three times a week, with both making a "commendable effort" to learn what is required of them.

Charlotte added: "It's proven that its a really inclusive sport and a welcoming club.

"They've come on leaps and bounds."

So far, £430 of the £1,000 target has been raised, and both dads are offering to add extra "bling" and decorations to their costumes for the competition if they reach certain milestones.

The money raised will help CARSC, a not-for-profit organisation based in Ely and Soham that relies on grants and fundraising for income, remain accessible and affordable for all memebers.

The money raised by Carlos and James will ensure the club can further develop and be the best environment possible for their daughters to train and learn.

The dads will dance to the challenging "Skaters March" in Newton Aycliffe on July 21-23, and if you wish to donate, visit www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/carscfundraiser.
