A drug dealer has been jailed for three years after he was caught red-handed with cocaine worth £2,200.

Two officers were on patrol in Cambridge city centre when they became suspicious of a parked grey Citroen, in Geldart Street, at about 10.30am on April 6.

As they approached, they saw Shefit Pici, 25, of Gunhild Way, Cambridge, sitting in the driver’s seat, appearing to be nervous and holding a wad of cash.

When asked by officers if he had anything on him, Pici pointed to his front trouser pocket and said drugs were in there.

He then admitted he took drugs and pointed to another person in the car stating he gave drugs to him.

A search discovered up to 40 grip seal bags containing white powder in Pici’s front pocket, which was later tested to be cocaine with a street value of about £2,200.

Pici also had a £10 note in the right front pocket with white residue on it, packaging for a sim card with the sim missing and £160.92 in cash.

Officers arrested Pici and his car was seized.

At Cambridge Crown Court on Tuesday (May 9), Pici pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply a class A drug – cocaine - and using a motor vehicle without third party insurance.

He was sentenced to three years in prison and disqualified from driving for three years and six months.

DC Becky Hughes, who investigated, said: “Drug use and supply causes untold misery and we will do everything we can to target dealers and their suppliers.

“The trade in illegal drugs is inextricably linked to violence and other crime. We urge the public to report it to us if they believe someone is involved in drugs or they have any information about drug dealing.”
