Work has started on a new £20million sustainable home scheme in Cambridgeshire.

Hayfield, the Solihull-based housebuilder, has begun work on Hayfield Lodge, a new 44-home development in Over.

The developer, supported by RM Contractors, has broken ground on the seven-acre scheme, which includes a range of EPC A-rated two-bedroom bungalows and two-, three-, four- and five-bedroom houses.

18 of the homes have been designed for affordable housing.

Each home is zero carbon ready and will include solar PV panels, air source heat pumps, underfloor heating, sound-reducing studies, and electric vehicle fast-charging points as standard.

Managing Director at Hayfield, Andy Morris, said: “Sustainability continues to be at the core of our thinking as we look to deliver ambitious, high-quality homes that enhance local communities.

“Once complete, Hayfield Lodge will provide another prominent example of how we can address the UK’s housing shortage and inspire greener ways of living through the highest standards of intelligent design.”

Hayfield’s zero carbon ready design principles will ensure that the homes exceed the government’s Future Homes Standard – a level of specification that will be mandatory for housebuilders to meet from 2025.

The £20million development is expected to launch in summer 2023.
