Floral and written tributes have been laid at the homes of two men who died in two village shootings.

Neighbours and other residents have paid their respects to Gary and Joshua Dunmore, a father and son shot dead in Sutton and Bluntisham on Wednesday, March 29.

Many flowers including roses have been stacked at the entrance to Meridian Close in Bluntisham, where Josh lived.

One message read: “Such a tragic and sad loss; our thoughts are with your family and friends."

Another said: “So sad [for] a young life to be taken like this and a little boy with no daddy. Thinking of the family.”

Meanwhile, residents remembered Gary and paid tribute to him with a line of flowers outside the front of his home in The Row, Sutton.

One neighbour described Gary as “a man who loved his family dearly; a dear friend to all.

“[He was] so helpful and kind, was always around as a friend and my little odd job man."

While another tribute said Gary and Josh “brought joy, happiness and laughter to all who met you.

“You will be deeply missed by everyone.”

On March 31, Gary and Josh’s family paid their own tribute.

In a statement released by Cambridgeshire Police, the family said Joshua “was a devoted father, a loving uncle, a wonderful son and brother.

“He will be deeply missed and the devastation this has caused will never heal.

"Gary was a gentle and generous person who always put others before himself.

“He was the most devoted son, brother, dad, and grandad, who gave everything for those he loved.”

Stephen Alderton, of no fixed abode, has been charged in connection to the two shootings.

Alderton, 66, was charged with two counts of murder and one count of possession of a firearm.

He is due to appear at Cambridge Crown Court on April 3.

A 27-year-old man and 33-year-old woman, who were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder, have been released with no further action taken.
