Ely NSPCC fundraising group host evening of live jazz

The evening was enjoyed by all those who attended the atmospheric Monastic barn at the King's School in Ely on March 4.

Live music was performed by the Phoneix Jazz, who have played twice for royalty at Clarence House, and they entertained attendees whilst dinner was served.

Attendee, Rosemary Westwell, said: "Pheonix was particularly adept at gelling together to produce the most delicious, languid, jazz tones that make the music so attractive. Be it jazz, swing, or soul, they performed magnificently."

"This was a highly well-organized event that was most enjoyable."

Led by singer Vicky Platt, the group performed a series of popular songs such as 'The Son of a Preacher Man' and 'Smooth Operator'.

A raffle was held after the supper, with the prize winners gaining a large flower arrangement and a hamper.

The Ely NSPCC fundraising group next look forward to hosting an 'Al Fresco' three-course 'Summer Supper' with entertainment undercover in the gardens of 47 Downham Road on July 7.
