The Mayor of Ely, Cllr Richard Morgan, has opened a new show home at a Linden Homes location in the city.

He declared the Pembroke show home open at a VIP ceremony at the Willow Woods development.

The mayor was joined at the exclusive launch event by a delegation from the senior management team at Vistry East Midlands, which included managing director Fraser Hopes, sales director Nic Chapman, and regional build director Andy Pearce.

As part of the planning agreement for the development, Vistry is building a new ECB-approved cricket pitch and pavilion for the City of Ely Cricket Club and representatives from the club also attended the event, including managers Ross Bailey, Richard Lee, and Ed Aniskowicz.

Cllr Morgan said: “As the Mayor of Ely, it was a great pleasure to officially open the Pembroke show home at Willow Woods.

“This Linden Homes development will bring 258 much-needed new homes to our city, including 46 affordable homes specifically for local people who cannot get onto the housing ladder.”

He added: “This project will deliver the homes we need to attract new residents to the city to sustain the local businesses and the community that makes this such a fantastic place to live.

“I look forward to new residents moving into the homes at Willow Woods and becoming part of the wonderful community in this beautiful and thriving city of ours.”

Willow Woods will consist of 212 properties for private sale under the Linden Homes brand, as well as 46 affordable homes that will be available for local people through rent or shared ownership.

Laura Thomas, sales manager for Willow Woods, said: “The launch event was a great success, and it was a privilege to welcome the mayor of Ely to cut the ribbon on our new show home.

“There was an extremely good turnout, with more than 70 visitors coming along to the site over the three days.”
