A community bus which aims to help families in East Cambridgeshire who are struggling with the cost-of-living crisis will be off the road for the next two weeks as it undergoes a makeover.

During this time, residents who need access to cost of living help can still continue to do so.

The bus, which is run by East Cambridgeshire District Council (ECDC) has recently featured on BBC Breakfast TV.

A spokesperson for ECDC said: “The community team offers advice on a variety of subjects including benefits, housing advice, debt and financial support and how to access help during the cost-of-living crisis.”

ECDC has seen demand for their services “mushroom” over the past 12 months, dealing with 1,411 requests for general cost-of-living advice and 1,029 requests for housing advice.

Daily drop-in sessions will continue to take place at ECDC’s offices at The Grange in Ely.

Residents will find the team at:

  • Soham Library on Wednesdays
  • Littleport Foodbank on Fridays

Alternatively, if you would like a member of the team to visit your home address call 01353 665555 or email customerservices@eastcambs.gov.uk.

After March 6, the bus will return to its usual district timetable which can be accessed here:https://www.eastcambs.gov.uk/housing/community-bus-timetable

Cost of living advice is also available via the homepage on ECDC’s website.
