An unexploded bomb has been discovered and disposed of in Isleham after being found under a vacant property.
The unexploded mortar round was found under a vacant property at the Isleham Marina.
Suffolk police were alerted to the three-inch explosive by an estate agent on Monday, January 23.
Officers were on scene by 1.15pm the same day and soon had an Explosive Ordnance Disposal team from Colchester on location to remove it.
The attending officers up a cordon in place, affecting 16 homes.
The team removed the explosive and called it a “substitute device”, the explosive was not live and very corroded.
Suffolk police suspect the mortar round had been there for about 80 years.
All the residents who had to leave their homes due to the cordon were back in their homes by 15.45pm.
