A SOHAM lorry driver died in a lay-by off the A14 on Thursday after one of his tyres exploded.
Marshall Alfred Bell, 51, of East Fen Common, had parked in a lay by at Haughley, and was checking his tyres when one exploded at around 12.25pm.
Paramedics arrived at the Bury St Edmund's-bound carriageway to find Mr Bell unconscious. The A14 was closed in both directions to allow an air ambulance to land, but the lorry driver could not be revived.
An inquest into his death was opened and adjourned on Friday, by the Bury St Edmunds coroner.
