COMMUTERS heading in to Ely via train this evening are set to face major delays after services between Cambridge and the city were suspended.
Line operator First Capital Connect confirmed that overhead line problems had forced it to halt the service between Cambridge and Ely with a bus service set to act as a replacement.Services from London to King's Lynn are terminating at Cambridge with customers advised to take rail replacement bus services to Ely (also calling at Waterbeach).A rail shuttle service is in operation between Ely and King's Lynn. Those travelling from King's Lynn can pick up a rail shuttle service to Ely where customers are advised to take rail replacement bus services to Cambridge, from where trains are running into London. Delays of 60 minutes or more can be expected on services north of Cambridge. Services between London and Cambridge may experience minor alterations and delays. Services between London, Peterborough, and the Hertford Branch are unaffected. Network Rail confirmed that it is working on fixing the problem.
