SHOPLIFTER Stuart Hewlett stole meat from a store in Soham because he needed cash to clear his drug debt, he told police.
Appearing at Ely courthouse on Thursday, 32-year-old Hewlett, of Church Road, Wicken, admitted stealing �10 worth of meat from the Co-op store on July 17.
"I had money problems, coupled with a drug problem," Hewlett told the court.
Sentencing was adjourned for seven days.
