A TEENAGER who left home so the electronic tag for his six-month curfew order could not be fitted, appeared back in court this week.
The 16 year old had been unavailable on four dates last month, when a security company wanted to install monitoring equipment.
"This was a knee jerk reaction, he took himself away when he knew the tag would be fitted," solicitor Catherine Bradd told Ely Youth Court.
"Now the penny has dropped, and he realises how close to custody he is. He has started to engage with the youth offending team, and has been voluntarily abiding by the curfew."
The 16-year-old was originally given the curfew order, along with a two-year supervision order, after admitting he stole a satellite navigation system and a mobile phone. At that sentencing, he was also banned from Littleport.
Ms Bradd said the teenager had being staying away from Littleport, and had not re-offended.
The court decided to extend the teenager's curfew order by one month.
