THE Right Reverend Stephen Conway was announced as the new Bishop of Ely this week.
Bishop Stephen, who will become the 69th Bishop of Ely, was unveiled by Bishop of Huntingdon Dr David Thomson on Tuesday morning and takes over the role from Dr John Russell who stood down in February after 10 years.
Bishop Stephen is currently serving as the Suffragan Bishop of Ramsbruy in the Diocese of Salisbury, a post which he had held since 2006, but will leave the post and officially take up his new role early next year.
“I am thrilled at the prospect of serving as Bishop of Ely,” said Bishop Stephen. “It is a joyful prospect to serve among all God’s people in the region, to discover together what God is doing and join in.”
