WEATHER warnings have been put in place as Ely braces itself for the latest cold snap.
Forecasters say there is a risk of widespread ice from Thursday after a band of rain and snow clears to the south and temperatures fall sharply.
Snow showers are expected across many parts of the country, with the Met Office urging people to be prepared for severe conditions and expect travel delays.
Met Office chief forecaster, Steve Willington said: “Following the rain and snow on Thursday, skies are expected to clear rapidly with widespread ice likely to form quickly.
“This could lead to disruption to travel networks later in the day.”
