The Ely Cadets and Ely District Scouts raised almost £4,000 in the lead up to Easter with bag-packing events at Sainsbury’s, in Ely.
Ely Cadets backed shopping for customers on Saturday and Sunday and raised £1,115 and, on Good Friday and Easter Saturday, Ely District Scouts raised a further £2,700 and collected more than 3,000 Active Kids vouchers.
The Scout group also ran an Easter Egg hunt around the store, where children were asked to find one of 30 hidden Easter pictures to win an egg.
The Scouts are using their fundraising money to help fund a trip to Austria later this year, and will combine this with money raised in store at Christmas. Store manager Karen Watts said: “It was very helpful to have support during the busy Easter period from the Cadets and the Scouts, we’re always delighted to invite both groups into Sainsbury’s and our customers are always very generous.”
