The body of a 54-year-old man who was reported missing to police was discovered by officers in a river in Sutton.
Cambridgeshire Constabulary was contacted by the family of David Sherlock on the morning of June 14 and a search was launched.
A spokesman for the force said that officers discovered a body in the river at Sutton Gault at about 5.30pm, which was later identified as Mr Sherlock, of The Southerns, in Sutton.
An investigation determined that there was no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and a file was passed to the coroner for North and East Cambridgeshire, William Morris.
At an inquest opened into the death on Friday, the cause of death was listed as drowning. The results of a series of toxicology tests are still awaited.
The inquest was adjourned and is expected to be re-opened on October 29.
