The Soham Staploe Rotary Club presented cheques for more than £5,000 to good causes this week.
The cheques were the proceeds of the club’s annual beer and music festival, which took place in July, and were handed out at the club’s latest meeting, at the Maid’s Head, in Wicken.
The auction raised £618, which was presented to Lisa Gregory, head teacher of the new Shade Primary School in Soham.
Ms Gregory said that the money would go towards stocking the school’s library.
The proceeds of the festival itself, amounting to £4,500.35, were presented to Callum Fairhurst who received it on behalf of the Liam Fairhurst Foundation. Callum said that the money would send 10 seriously or terminally ill children to Disneyland Paris. The tables were turned later in the proceedings when Peter Wyborne, of Asda, presented the club with a cheque for £175 for its charity work.
