A £1,000 donation from Anglian Water will be split between two community groups in Littleport.

In September, hundreds of homes in the village, and parts of nearby Little Downham and Prickwillow, were left without water for almost 24 hours after a water main burst.

In the aftermath of the incident, the utilities giant apologised “unreservedly” to customers and pledged to write to homeowners who were hit by the disruption offering £20 credit on their next bill.

The company also pledged to hand over £1,000 to good causes in the village, nominated by Littleport Parish Council.

And, at the last meting of the parish council, it was decided to split the donation between the Adams Heritage Centre and Littleport Village Hall.

The village hall committee is in the midst of a fund-raising drive to complete renovations to the roof, while the Adams Heritage Centre is preserving the history of Littleport in a permanent exhibition.
