Vicar Tim Alban Jones is set to leave Soham for a new post with the Bishop of Peterborough.
Rev Alban Jones, 51, became an MBE in 2003 in recognition of his work in the community following the disappearance of Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman.
He acted as one of the focal points for national media during the tragic ordeal and led the town through a period of mourning.
Rev Alban Jones said: “It has been a great joy and privilege to have served in Soham and Wicken for the past 15 years and we will certainly miss these lovely places - and even lovelier people.”
On September 1, the father-of-three will take up a role as the Bishop of Peterborough’s chaplain and residentiary of Peterborough Cathedral.
Rev Alban Jones is currently Vicar of Soham and Wicken and Rural Dean of the Fordham and Quy Deanery.
He is also chairman of the House of Clergy in the Diocese of Ely’s synod and a member of general synod. His last service in Soham will be on Sunday, July 26.
A spokesman for St Andrew’s Church, in Soham, said: “We will miss him but congratulate him and wish him all the best in his new post.”
