Dozens of youngsters have signed up to be a part of the new police cadet unit running in Soham.
A launch event was held at Soham Village College earlier this month and 28 youngsters attended the first in a series of weekly events.
The Soham cadet unit is the second to start up in Cambridgeshire, following the launch of the county’s first unit in Peterborough, and is the brainchild of the police and crime commissioner, Sir Graham Bright.
Cadet units are being set up to get youngsters aged 13-18 involved in promoting safety in the community while giving them an insight into the world of policing.
Once the Soham police cadets have completed their training, they will spend at least three hours every month helping communities and helping with crime prevention measures.
