Two mums climbed 24 peaks in 24 hours in the Lake District to raise funds for the British Heart Foundation.

Witchford childminder Leeann Boulton and Liz Shillito, a ward sister at Papworth Hospital, took part in the challenge to raise money for the British Heart Foundation.

Their efforts have so far raised £2,500.

Mrs Shillito said: “We walked more than 35 miles including sharp inclines and steep descents. So far we have raised £2,500 pounds.

“It really was both physically and mentally challenging. The weather at the beginning of the walk was awful with heavy rain and strong gusts of wind.

“Luckily the weather cleared and so we were able to enjoy some of the spectacular scenery.

“The strength and determination of the group we were with kept up morale.

“We both have a massive sense of achievement both in terms of the physical challenge but also with the tremendous amount of money we have raised for the BHF.

“We would also like to thank all of our friends and family for their amazing support.”
