Students at Witchford Village College have received free books as part of an annual initiative to encourage reading for pleasure.
All Yr 7 and 8 children were able to choose a book from a range of titles for both boys and girls as well as all reding abilities as part of the Book Trust’s ‘Bookbuzz’ programme.
The school’s library and resource centre manager Mrs Burley said: “It is satisfying to know that every year 7 and 8 student at Witchford Village College will be able to start their school year with a free book of their own choice, which I hope will inspire and encourage them to read for pleasure.”
MsS Webber, head of English added: “Bookbuzz is a fantastic scheme, and it is a brilliant way to encourage every young person to read. Years 7 and 8 students have been delighted to receive their books, and there has been lots of excited chat about the titles they have chosen, and sharing their first impressions of the stories. A huge thank-you to Mrs Burley for organising Bookbuzz for our students – the happy faces and huge smiles say it all.”
