Hare coursing seems to have spread from south Cambridgeshire to the Fens after four men were arrested on suspicion of the crime earlier today.
Police helicopters landed at West Fen Road, Ely, at around 12.15pm following reports of hare coursing/poaching.
The men were however released due to a lack of evidence.
Hare coursing is the pursuit of hares with greyhounds and other sighthounds, which chase the hare by sight and not by scent.
It is a competitive sport, in which dogs are tested on their ability to run, overtake and turn a hare, rather than a form of hunting aiming at the capture of game.
A police helicopter was also spotted searching for suspected hare coursers in Chatteris this morning around the High Street area.
Police relaunched Operation Dornier II to combat hare coursing and poaching in Cambridgeshire earlier this month.
