Families bowed their heads in silence when Ely turned out to pay respect to the city’s fallen.
They will never be forgotten, was the overwhelming message, during a service at the cathedral which was packed with a host of local organisations including Cadets, Scouts, Brownies and Guides as well as local dignitaries.
People spanning generations from children to grandparents lined the streets to pay their respects to service men and women who have risked their lives in conflict.
