Children from around Ely took time out from their half term breaks to head down to Ely Museum to take part in the museum’s Down the Bottom of the Garden craft event.

Dozens of craft-loving youngsters got involved in four different creative activities at the museum on Market Street on Thursday March 31, including making cress heads, Easter garden scenes and garden gnomes out of cardboard tubes.

The morning, which was attended by five to 11-year-olds, was ended with a fun trail and a big easter egg hunt.

The event was fully sold out, and the museums assistant curator, Sarah Brown, said it was a success.

She said: “Some times it’s difficult to judge how difficult the activities are going to be, but all the children got stuck in and they had a great time.”
