Budding artists from a pre-school in Soham are showcasing their artwork in a rather unusual location this month.
Artistic pupils from Little Wombatz Pre-school, on Fountain Lane, have had their work selected to go on show at the Phonebox Gallery – a phonebox on Mainstreet, Prickwillow – throughout May.
The 40 pieces of art, which are all themed on animals, were created by pupils aged between two and five-years-old as part of the school’s focus on animals this term.
As part of their studies into the animal kingdom, pupils had the opportunity to get up close and personal with creatures of all shapes and sizes during visits from Lion Learners and Cambridge Shetland Ponies.
Manager Chris Barton says creating pieces of art based on animals has helped the children broaden their knowledge on the subject.
She said: “The children have really enjoyed learning about all the different animals. The artwork is mainly jungle animals, but there are also some British birds in there, as they’ve also been part of the studies.
“They also got to meet lots of animals thanks to the Lion Learners and Cambridge Shetland Ponies, which they really loved.”
